So. Cal has it all this time of the year, Baja like desert, alpine mounts, Ewok forests... AND not as hot as it will be soon! North west Arizona and south Nevada all fits this discription. == Rev. Dude you already know the answer to this, it's San Diego! Come visit. La Jolla is crawling with rich chicks looking for a Dr. to marry. You can ride year round, the snow is 2 hrs. away if your into that, Mexico is 45 minutes away, and you can surf every day! Dave Barry said he would never live anywhere that palm trees won't grow......there are hundreds of species here. This is paradise, don't tell anyone else. Morgan

NM is the fifth largest state in the USA but low population density outside of Albuquerque. We have everything from desert to alpine and lots of space in between. Doc, I have to agree with Morgan that San Diego County is Paradise. I live in North County, and although I have had many opportunities to move to other parts of the country (work on Rad Therapy Equipment), my wife and I wouldn't move unless we were forced to. The county is pretty mellow compared to other large metropolitan areas and the traffic isn't that bad (yet) for CA. I haven't explored the offroad venue yet (only have had the KLR for 2 weeks), but there are hundreds of miles of secondary roads that wind you through the mountains. All beautiful the 3 seasons(summer, cooler or cooler w/rain). And you can't beat being able to watch the sunset over the ocean. It really doesn't matter where you end up, everywhere has something that is special. As long as you move to the SW, you will always be able to smell the rain as it hits the sand for the first time in months. Sorry for the long winded e-mail, Best of Luck, Mike KLR650 A15

Durango CO. area would be my first choice If I could live anywhere during the spring/summer/fall. The people, the climate, the food. Ouray is a wonderful place to ride/explore. On the other side I prefer Pueblo CO. in my opinion is more diverse than boulder or co springs. I am a warm weather rider. Dont know about the winters, have never been to CO. in the winter. Red River NM would be my second choice. Believe it or not, Amarillo Tx is a wonderful place with canyons like you would not believe, and yes, hill climbs are a passion in Tx panhandle. As well as wide open spaces and the warmest people in the world.. Is not too far from NM or CO. and winters are milder. NE Arkansas and SE Missouri is great, ozark mountains, mild winters, long growing seasons, beautiful rivers, great fishing, great people, wonderful mountain heritage. cost of living is cheap cheap.

Did this search ten years ago and never regretted settling in Bend, OR. Three hours from Portland. Four from the beach. 30 minutes from the wilderness area. Miles of mountains, deserts, etc. to ride. Lots of forest service, BLM. Growing economy. Skiing, hiking, mtn. biking, equestrian activities, fishing, boating, windsurfing, petroglyphs. Summers 90's in the day, 45 at night. Winters snowy but mild with only a couple months of limited riding. Check out St. Charles Hospital. Also have a friend that works Bend Immediate Care Center and others that work in the hospital that I could broker a contact if you needed info. Two hospital districts just merged so don't know about the hiring, politics, etc going on. Email if you have questions or explore out this way. Todd A9
