Will someone tell me if I'm right or correct me if I am wrong:
TC oil pumps have 2 valves. One in the block and one in the pump
top.
The one in the block is a bypass valve whose purpose, I think, is to
let oil thru if the filter is blocked.
The one in the top is the pressure relief valve.
If the filter has it's own bypass, the one in the block is redundant
and could be blocked off..

-Yes. And the bypass valve is replaced each time you change the filter. But,
if you block the block original bypass valve, you should make sure the
filter always has a bypass valve. Some do not.

Oil Pumps
What changes to the block do you need to make when you go to the later model TD/TF oil pump? I seem to recall something about the relief valve (ball, spring, etc.) needing to be eliminated or something but I can't remember what.
Thanks,

Re: Oil Pumps
Remove the Ball, Ball Guide, Spring, and Seat from the engine block. These components are now incorporated in the later style oil pump.Plug the hole in the block, where the oil line from the oil pump entered the block.I believe that it is 1/4"-19 BSP parallel. Metric Multistandard Components Corp. should have that. That's about it
