Can any one help Bruno Traverso in Italy who would like to know the original colour of
the hood frame of an early 1946 TC No. 435. He has read of two different suggestions
that it was either black or light grey. He is not a member of this group yet, so I'll pass on
any observations.
Thanks, Eric.

Re: Hood frame colour
Hi Eric -
TC0273 and TC0279,both obviously very early TCs both had their original hood bow frames on them when I acquired them; they had never been taken off the cars.
Both hood frames were light tan, similar to the color of later TC frames.
This doesn t prove that all frames were this color, but I ve never seen any physical evidence of black frames on TCs. Even TC0251 has a tan frame in all the photos taken of it in July and September 1945.
Hope this helps, and hope t doesn t stir up a hornets nest. If anyone has evidence otherwise (except for the police cars which are a different matter) please present it!

Re: Hood frame colour
Many thanks to Jeff, Duncan and Tom who have described the hood frame colour as awful cream, beige and light Tan. As Tom fears, this could stir up another contentious discussion as there are probably as many perceptions of a colour as there are commentators.
The actual paint used may owe more to what was left over from camouflaging military vehicles, so we must be thankful that the idea of painting TCs in a patch work of different colours never caught on. Experience has taught me to stay clear of paint colour discussions, claiming to be colour blind might come in handy sometimes.
Eric.

Re: Hood frame colour
These questions always result in varied and sometimes interesting threads. It often surprises me how often they reoccur, but that is the nature of the internet. What is surprising is the number of people who have not read the “T Series Handbook” This book contains detailed articles of “originality” by Chip Old ,who was on this list before he passed away some time ago. What is important is the fact that the articles Chip wrote were for the most part only 20 to 25 years after the last TC rolled out of Abingdon. He had access, as the technical editor for the New England MG T Register’s Sacred Octagon, to our cars when original examples with low mileage still existed in large numbers. In his articles, Chip explains that while he certainly wasn’t infallible, he did have access to many cars, factory records etc. Also, back then, the factory was still in operation and employed workers who had been with MG since the end of the war. The point is that his articles are highly accurate and much more contemporary then our suggestions that this car or that car had this part which was x color or y color. We are over 40 years beyond Chips sources. And we are almost 70 years since the last TC. I really urge anybody who do not have the T Series Handbook to get one. There is so much more than” Points of Originality”, and terrific articles on tuning and maintain the cars. They can be purchased on line from the New England MG T Register’s web site. Oh yes, the frames were tan on the TC! Early, middle and late! Mike LecksteinFrom: mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com [mailto:mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of mgtc@comcast.net [mg-tabc]
