Carb Overflow pipe

Hi All, I can see the routeing for the two carb overflow pipes to take them neatly under the carbs to the front of the car. The pictures that I have seen show that there is a clip attached to the flat plate holding the engine block to the chassis mount. On neither of my TCs is there a hole to fix the clip. Should there be? Was there one when the cars left the factory?. Is the solution just to drill a hole? Hi all,

Do not drill extra holes. The TC carb over flow pipes go OVER the front bearer plate, bend down, and then are double clipped to the front of the bearer plate with the single bolt exposed holding the bearer plate to the block. The clip is a single brass clip to cover both over flow pipes, with one 8 mm hole, to accept the engine bearer plate bolt. Very neat and tidy and gets the fuel away from the exhaust system.

Clearly shown in the TD Workshop Manual, Page D1, fig D2. I doubt MG would have changed from the TC to the TD.

Nick,

TC 2911 has a hole drilled through the engine plate with a screw and nut securing the clip.  I believe it was that way when I took possession of the car, but that has been some time ago and the engine has been out and apart a time or two during my ownership.

I can see the routeing for the two carb overflow pipes to take them neatly under the carbs to the front of the car. The pictures that I have seen show that there is a clip attached to the flat plate holding the engine block to the chassis mount. On neither of my TCs is there a hole to fix the clip. Should there be? Was there one when the cars left the factory?. Is the solution just to drill a hole?

The pictures that I have seen show that there is a clip attached to the flat plate holding the engine block to the chassis mount. On neither of my TCs is there a hole to fix the clip. Should there be? Was there one when the cars left the factory?. Is the solution just to drill a hole?
