Does anyone know where to find a good enduro Helmet, MX style with shield?
Bieffe europe makes one "MX SPORT 3S ENDURO" but nobody carries it here. If
you want to see what this Helmet looks like I will email you a jpeg photo of
 it.

Anyone know what documentation is needed for crossing Central and South
American borders? I'm thinking of taking off in mid August.

I own a 2000 klr 650 .It was purchased new and now has 9000 miles on the
odometer.I want to modify the beast for more offroad capabilities.I have a
 D606 rear tire,K&N and a JET KIT.I just ordered a BIGGUN exhuast.I would
like to regear the bike but cant find a 14 tooth front gear listed for a
klr650. Would I need a different length chain? What is the best front
spring? Has anyone tuned this combination? what size mainjet, it has a 150
now. airbox open or closed.I want the baddest klr in the sand pit.Lots of
big climbs and mad sand drags here in central New Jersey.I want to do it
 right. Thanx

List,
What's all this talk about glued-on heat shields on
the right side cover? I don't have one and there is
no evidence that there ever was one (no tacky area).
There is a heat shield bolted on to the triangular
shaped bulge in the exhaust under the side cover.
 Isn't that enough?

 Your supposed to wash em?

Umm I don't think I have ever washed mine, unless you consider
rideing to work and home 150 miles in the rain washing it..

 Dale

I can certainly vouch for that!! If dales bike ever got washed it may fall
 apart.

Mon Apr 30 2001, Jim (proffessor) Hyman came by my place as he wanted
to do some testing of the elctrical system and batery condition under
the loads I put on it in the winter especially.
Gerbing heated jacket about 90 watts
  " " gloves 15
  " " socks 15
                                -----
for an approximate load of 120 watts
NOT counting of course the stock load, ignition, lights..

Now seeing as the stock rating of the alternator is what,... 196
watts at some atmospheric 8K rpm I have been alternately impressed and
surprised the bike can keep the battery up with the additional loads
 described above.
Keep in mind, I turn off the heated clothing at low rpm situations.
I ride locally and did a trip last DEC down the coast fron Grants
Pass OR to Crescent City, to San Jose and back with the heated
clothing on the majority of the time. And for hrs at a time.
So this week, after running the bike to charge the battery up after
starting it, we put the clothing loads on it and took it's electrical
temperature. Jim also put the load on when the bike was idling to see
if the system would recover from 11 volts after idling with the load
on and then raising the rpm to 2500-3500rpm.
It did not recover well as it was sub 12 volts but we were taking the
readings at the same circuit that the load was on. After connecting
the votmeter to the wire at the rad fan it showed that the system
would recover to 11.3 volts after a load at idle and then raising the
 rpm up to 3500 rpm.
Well it reinforced the real world test (trips over the road) that the
load can be used up to this amount and keep the battery charged for
 starting the motorcycle.

Anyone know of a source for metric fasteners such as 10-1.25 pitch?
Is Jake Jakeman on this list? Could someone ask him where he sources
 his metric screws?

 TIA,
 Rex
