Check out the footage of a moto-mishap.......... silly Frenchmen http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/43989/motorcycle+journalist+crashes+on+dock+falls+10-plus+feet+into+sailboat/ There is a lesson in this for us who use saddle bags (in my case Pelican's)- they stick out and if you are not careful you might go sailing. See Fred....Instead of paying good money to have all those old tires hauled off you could be recycling them and making money !!!! Happy Holidays... Date: Tuesday, December 4, 2012, 3:03 PM Have you got an old 21" front tire laying around? Well, why not become part of the recycle movement and turn that chunk of rubber into something for the Holidays. Yes, it looks like crap hanging there during the daylight hours, but once the sun goes down nobody can tell the difference between your old re-purposed festive tire from your neighbors expensive one. All it takes is a strand of 300 lights and a hell of a lot of patience.....and another pair of hands to avoid nasty expletives during this happy holiday time. I give you the GLDS wreath. Merry Christmas!!!!! moto-mishap - nklr

I'm laughing WITH Lolo not at him I clipped a Volkswagen- sized rock on the Kettle Valley Railway trail with the right Givi on my KLR. I ended up in a 6 foot deep ditch with the bike on top of me such that I couldn't get traction to lever the bike off me. The rock was placed in the trail to keep cars out since the rail trail crossed a provincial highway at that location. The crash was luckily witnessed by a passing motorist who stopped and extricated me from my sodden and rather smelly resting place. Good thing he did since the trail was lightly traveled in that area and I was far enough below trail grade to be invisible. Lesson learned: pannier symmetry is more important that absolute width, I misjudged the clearance since the muffler-side pannier protruded further from the bike centerline than the left side. All of my pannier-equipped bikes since have been symmetrical within a half-inch. With symmetric panniers narrower than the handle bar width its easier to thread through obstructions. -----Original Message----- From: "eddie" Sent: 12/ 4/ 2012 13:58 To: "DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com" DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com> Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Moto-Mishap - NKLR Check out the footage of a moto-mishap.......... silly Frenchmen http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/43989/motorcycle+journalist+crashes+on+dock+falls+10-plus+feet+into+sailboat/ There is a lesson in this for us who use saddle bags (in my case Pelican's)- they stick out and if you are not careful you might go sailing.
