kickstand mechanism!

Hey all I've been looking at portable jacks for the garrage ? drive do to space. and the average Scissor jack just does not look stable to me for pushing and pulling at times. Tonight I found a little differant style on Sears web page, Still small but has "wings" so you can bolt it to a larger board then slide it under the bike. ALSO to small holders to Cradle the frame. I considered that type of lift when I was looking at them, for the same reason..... Just looked more stable. Another approach that some may like, I have a hoist attached to a beam in the garage roof. With two strap loops hanging from the two foot wide spacer, (so that they hang straight down to the bars, it removes the "falling onto my golden body" problem,and a piece of 2 x 6 between the bike and the ancient scissor jack and that completes the array. A piece of rope will prevent the bars swinging hard over. A patent has not been applied for. DC

I have a smaller lift I think I bought at Costco or Sam's years ago that works well lifting the bike a few inches. recently I bought one of those full lift / stands from Harbor Freight that lifts the whole bike a couple feet up. A friend who has a garage similar to Fred's uses a wench hooked to I beams in the ceiling. Another uses bike tie downs and a fork lift. Any of these beat a milk crate. Criswell Sent from my iPad

www.themotorcyclestand.com works well. Since I work (bend /TIG weld) with stainless round tubing in my shop, this was an easy design to "borrow". I had to make the legs taller for the KLR but that's the only modification I had to make. It's incredibly stable and very powerful lifting capacity (One hand) due to the huge amount of leverage. I lift just behind the bash plate which is just behind the balance point of the bike. This raises the rear wheel and leaves about 50 lbs of weight on the front wheel. I also am making two jack stands that will fit into the SW Motech crash bars forward highway foot peg holes that I don't use (one on each side of the bike) so I can have the entire bike off of the ground.
