nklr: riding suit for teen girl?
So the teen girl wants to ride the '81 Honda CB125S to school and work (If I can get it running...). I need to outfit her safely, on a budget. We have helmets, gloves and boots pretty well covered, but we need convenient, safe and economical clothing. We're thinking a textile suit to wear over her school clothes and stash in the topbox. Decent armor, preferably waterproof/resistant but we could get her a rainsuit to go over it if necessary. Any ideas?

Cycle gear is having a great sale on freeze out gear and waterproof jackets
($150) and pants($90) they also have a bunch of other stuff thats
rainproof

The ideal piece of gear for your purpose is probably the Aerostich Roadcrafter. The original one-piece was intended to be quick, convenient commuter gear. It's good stuff, but a new one probably costs more than the Honda.
Probably the cheapest way to get body armor is to get MX gear. Bohn was marketing some touring/commuter armor at one time, but I haven't read too much about it lately. There is also a wide range of armored synthetic riding gear, usually separate pants and jacket, in the lower price ranges. Dunno what kind of selection there is for a young girl; depends on her size, probably. Cheaper Than Dirt and Bob's are just a couple of places you can look,.

I agree the Roadcrafter is perfect but hardly inexpensive, unless perhaps
compared to a series of skin grafts.
One great place to get well-cared for Aerostitch gear used at reasonable
prices is the IBMWRA website marketplace. This site is the home of the
national BMW riders association. Typical reason for selling: seller gained
or lost so much weight that the suit does not fit anymore. I have both
bought and sold 'Stitch gear on this site and my experiences were both
overwhelmingly positive with both buyer and seller doing exactly as they
said they would do, when they said they would do it. Of course YMMV, so
caveat emptor.

The two piece Roadcrafter top can also be used as a jacket, but if you
go with ATGATT, one piece is the way to go.
They come it great color combinations.

nklr: riding suit for teen girl?
I've been buying Fieldsheer gear lately. The jackets are good
bang-for-the-buck. The zippers seem to be the weakest link in these
circa-$100 jackets. I would think a separate pants and jacket combo would
be easier to deal with on a commute than a suit. I wear some knee/shin
guards either under or over my pants in lieu of actual motorcycle pants.

These shin guards work best under the pants since they do not have a thigh
strap. The pants need to be baggy though. But the price is right and the
quality is good; sturdy straps and Velcro. I wear these in cool or cold
weather and wear some Fox off-road shin guards outside my jeans in hot
weather.

Threw Yellowstone and other parts out west, I delt with the Detours, Smoke, and even could feel the heat differance a few times.
AND LACK OF MOTEL ROOMS. (fire fighters had them book for miles)
