klr650 doo help, please

Post by Fred Hink » Sat Oct 13, 2012 5:30 pm

Luc, You can t send pictures to the list but you can put them in a folder in the Photo section. The only washer I can think of in that area is the 6mm flat washer on the adjuster bolt. https://www.kawasakiepc.com/SSIConverted/3362594_121013_062601_1076.png Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com From: Luc Legrain Sent: Saturday, October 13, 2012 10:22 AM To: DSN KLR650 Subject: [DSN_KLR650] klr650 doo help, please All, I opened up the old Red '05 (34,520 miles) about a month ago to install a souped up stator, since it was opened I piddled with the doo ( Eagle Mike with torsion spring from old Fred) did not have a chance to work on it until today.Of course senility settling in, I forgot which way the Doo goes in ( see pictures) is it doo1 or doo2 ? What would make my Klr 650 slightly feel like I'm running out of fuel? Like small surges.

Mine was doing that and I found my chain to be pretty loose. It was due for a change anyway. The new chain is very snug now and I don't have the light surges...which for me was more in third gear. Crash

Most KLRs run very lean and this will cause the surging. A jet kit or a shim under the needle and opening the air screw out to around 1 1/2 turns should eliminate your surging. Chains don t wear evenly and if you run it too tight will act like it is surging. It is never a good idea to run a chain too tight. Better to run it too loose than too tight. A tight new chain won t have the surging feel that a tight worn chain will.
