We here are in Tornado Alley and I know what storms can do. The house my wife grew up in was flattened in Wichita Falls TX by their last big tornado. They have had 3 hit there in my lifetime. I travel down to Galveston on occasion and that city seems to have a hurricane bulls eye on it. There's always something. Growing up in the middle of Chicago we didn't worry about natural disasters. OK .the city was shut down by snow once in a while but that was actually pleasant. Yes in the summer basements would sometimes flood an irritation but not cataclysmic. What concerned us was human caused problems; my mother and sister were both mugged. I was robbed at gun point in front of my house. The city has much improved in that regard in most but not all neighborhoods. Here in Colorado Springs we have no problems with earthquakes, hurricanes or tornados. But there sure are forest fires. This summer my domicile was not in danger but was full of smoke. One guy lost his entire stable of motorcycles along with everything else.
