(nonklr) my shipping bitch!

Post by mark ward » Mon Jun 04, 2012 12:18 pm

It's realy gets me when they charge for shipping based on......The price of the item. They have a pair of gloves that cost $79. thats $30. more then one of there cheaper coats $49. (Insurance would be extra.)

If I don't see a shipping price before finalizing the order, I don't buy it. Period. No exceptions. Even if it is something I cannot buy anywhere else, I find out the shipping and handling costs before ordering - or I don't order it. In our business, we are slapped with things like "Fuel Surcharges" when the invoice arrives. Of course, we knew nothing about a "fuel surcharge" when we placed the order. I hope I am not speaking out of school for wattman, but the thermobob parameter/design is [best] at the lower OAT temps. I would imagine that you are completely correct, that a metal skid pan would be helpful at lower temps, and conversely, a hindrance at higher temps IRT reflected energy. = Eldon Carl's point. Hence the multiple layers of disclaimers, Eldon Carl, Watt-Mann etal. as there is a mixture of metaphor and problems discussed at the same time. I didn't drink Eldon Carl's Kool-Aid, but I did drink wattmans. smile. I think Eldon has a point concerning high OAT vs. the metal skid pan. I only mentioned Watt-Man's highly instrumented KLR as he took numerous internal and surface temps as he was formulating his thermo-bob. I believe that included with and without skid pans, etc. A interesting thing from his testing (as I remember), is that best cooling on a normal KLR without the thermobob occurred without the tank mounted air scoops installed. That was an extremely trying time in his experimentaion: He had to post bail to get out of jail for riding an unusally ugly KLr. Just kidding. I think Eldon was trying to explain that the need for metal skid pan did not offset the need for cooler sump temps at high OAT temps; I understand his poing, which I personally think is wrong for my riding conditions...the problem lies in the extreme ends of the operating conditions. Who cares about oil sump heat when it is40F to
