In the last few yrs I have heard, very little on the clutchs, How long they "should" last etc..
I do not remember how many miles john had on his, when he inspected them and found .....
WOW STILL GOOD.
I have NO issues at 22,000 (+), But do not want the "ISSUES" to start in the middle of a trip, like to Alaska.

no tire thread, average clutch life instead?
My 2007 klr has 10,000 miles on it. I ve noticed that sometimes when im in
a gear a want to speed up (go from gear 3 to 4) i let go of the clutch
andthe bike feels like it takes about 2 sconds to catch up. Is that my
clutch or is it some carb adjustment issue?
The bike was stolen and my back tire was worn out when the cops found it.
Any ideas?

As I've read, the KLR's clutch plates are the same ones used in some liter-class sports monster. The consensus is that barring unusual abuse, the clutches will most likely outlast the engine.

My 2009 has 24,000+ on it and I hope to go 40 or 50 more on that clutch before I get a "new" KLR. I run 10 percent Lucas in all 3 KLRs with no slipage. Just take care of them. Dennis

1. Check your cable adjustment to ensure that there's sufficient clutch lever play.
2. Make sure you're not using an oil with moly additives that could cause slippage.
After confirming these things, then a clutch replacement MAY be in order.

Strange.....my clutch has 54,000 plus and never show.'s any issues. I had to replace the cable once and adjust it on the handlebar occasionally.
