G'day Paul, Yes there are a few of us around. I have a 2004 A18 model and it's grouse. Where are you located? This bike will do just about anything, not brilliantly but it will do it all. Gavin A18 Broadford Victoria

G'day Mates Some folks have a few Kangaroos loose in the top paddock. They get a little too airy fairy when they drink to much amber fluid. At any tic of the clock they could go A over T. Maybe they want to have a barney, or just be a buggerlugs. I hope nobody chucks a spaz over it. Probably a bunch of cods wallop. Not worth getting your underdacks in a bunch. They need to mellow out by playing their didgeridoo. Most people on the list are fair dinkum, real dinky di. Very few drongos, most of us are ridgie didge. A stunned mullet or stickybeak will skedaddle from the list. Tall poppys ignore such rubbish from them. One more chorus of Waltzing Matilda and the whinger will start feeling wrapped. I got your ears flapping with all my yabber. All this kafuffle is for misery guts. Everybody should have a fair go of it. It's time I bite my bum. Get a better seat and a couple of panniers and I think you would find the KLR a most worthy mount. I've done many 1000 mile days, done a significant amount of serious touring and think nothing of a 120 mile hop to visit friends. As long you don't need to be the fastest bike on the road the KLR is a good street bike. In the urban jungle I can't think any bike I would rather be on. And who knows, one day, on one of your tarmac tours, you might just see a dirt path seductively whispering, take the road less traveled. And that's the day you will be hooked. Hi all, recently bought a brand new '03 KLR out here in Omaha. Pretty cool group here! Digging through the photos, I saw the H2 recovery sticker- man, that's great; there's so many folks with H2s out here I would love to slap one on my bike! I'll upload some pics of mine with the mermite cans; just because I can, I guess... it looks much like everyone else's KLRs otherwise. Anyway, glad to be here!

Hi, New member here. Just bought an 03 KLR650 with 6000 street miles on it. I'm anxious to get it out today as we just finally saw broke through the 30 degree mark for the last 4 days.(Central KY) I appreciate all the work that has gone into this site. Lotsa great info. Question: Does anyone make (and or sell) a lowering kit (ie dog bones) that will lower the rear up to 3"? It looks like the front forks could be lowered maybe an inch. Has anyone tried that with any ill effects? Thanks again for your input. Jay

Yes. Most of the lowering links are single setting at about 1.5 inch. Scootworks makes one that has 1, 2 or 3 inch lowering depending on which hold you stick it in. www.scootworks.com -- Doug Herr doug@...

In stock trim, the forks should be flush with the top triple-clamp. I run mine about 1/2" raised, just because I like it like that. When I have a 1.5" lowering kit on, my forks are 2" above the trees, and there is still room, so if you lower the rear by 3", you can raise the forks 3" as well. (Remember that you have to loosed the top clamp on the fork boots, I bet that causes more cussing than just about anything..) Ron in MN

New to the group; kinda. Joined a while ago and never really have gotten around to posting. I spend a lot of time on Adventure Rider, ST-N, and KLR650.net. Anyway, I posted some photos of my rig in 'Johnny's bike' folder for anyone interested. I noticed there was a photo of an 'aluminum pannier' there as well; I'm using mermite cans too; though I have them mounted slightly differently. At any rate, good to be here!
