Hey ALL
I found that the GPS (phones etc) Plug can (WILL) drain a NEW battery in 2-3 days, It's NOT just that little LED light Its the inverter in the plug, working even when the GPS is off the bike.
On my K1200lt with a good size battery, I went out 3 days after unplugging the maintainer and.....brand new BATTERY DEAD.
I talked to a friend a BMW , he said his wifes small car drained in about 3-4 days, enough to be hard to start.
I used to leave the plug, on the bike at night, AND plugged-in while camping etc., thinking when not charging it shut down to sleep mode, like in the RV Etc..
So do not just judge the tiny led, it's the WHOLE PLUG ASSEMBLY (inverter etc)
DRAWING POWER.

engine kill switch wiring question.
My father in law has a bad right side engine run-off-run switch. It's a 2007 KLR650. He's ordered a new switch, but in the mean time which wires can he twist together to bypass this switch? He wants to use the ignition switch to kill the engine.

engine kill switch wiring question.
Search on Google for KLR650 wiring diagram.
The first result will give you a diagram for a 1995 model. If your father-in-law's bike has the same color wires, as I expect, you will see that the brown wire is connected to the yellow/red wire when the switch is in the Run position. The other two wires are only connected when in the Off position, so in this case you will not connect those two. Just connect the first two I mentioned.

engine kill switch wiring question.
Ok, but if I'm reading the wiring diagram correctly, won't that bypass the starter button and engage the starter? The bottom pole of the 2 pole switch doesn't look like it's connected to anything when in the run position...

AAAK!! My bad.
It looks like I told wrong two wires. If I read the diagram correctly, now it looks like you don't short any of the wires together.
You said the switch was bad. What are the symptoms? Will it engage the starter?
Mike
