nklr looking for float valve assy for dr200

Post by Craig Kahler » Fri May 04, 2012 2:58 pm

I recently picked up a 2003 DR200se. I need a new float valve assy. where is a good place to get carburator parts at a reasonable price. The carburator is a Mikuni BST31. Thanks Craig [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

For carb parts, I usually buy OEM because the quality of aftermarket parts is wildly variable. I usually order from cheapcycleparts.com or mrcycles.com for best pricing. -Jeff Khoury

Robert, Find the wide open throttle (WOT) top speed; use ~75% of that speed as the 'longivity' speed. = if you want the machine to last, use 75% of WOT for extended periods. If you don't care (shrug) go as fast as you want; watch for oil consumptions. smile. No motor complains at going to top rpm/speed occossionally (all factors considered, ie oil level, oil quality, and engine condition). Engines protest mightly when held at wide open throttle for extended periods of time. The 'redline' of 55mph is amusing/anecdotal if it is not close to that 75/80% figure of WOT. If it is 75% of WOT, then IMO it is really a red line of sorts. On another note; Have you ever noticed how much more power your KLR650 gets above 7K rpm? No? Me neither. Ever notice how KLR650 oil consumption increases at ~75% of red line? =5620RPM yeah, me too. YMMV. revmaaatin.

Does this mean it is doing damage to the bike to drive in the red? It does not seem to struggle at all going 65 mph with just me on it. > > rw > > > TotalHealth > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] >
