why reinvent the wheel? You can get a later model rear mono shock for around $100 Get an aftermarket better spring for $90. The harbor freight tool for compressing the shock spring is $15 You might need a washer also to bolt the later model shock correctly on a pre 08. The post07 shock also comes with a condom to keep dirt and rocks off the shaft.

Is there any issuse with putting on a new spring thats too....big? im taking my shock off to send out and have resprung with a heavier spring. I dont want to go too light. Will a heavier spring thats too much just make for a harsh ride? Im looking at me,250#, my sometimes passenger, and top and side ammocan bags that only get used for long trips and come off when i hit the trail. magnetizing stock drain plugs

Post by Jeffrey » Fri Apr 06, 2012 12:34 pm

I tried all the youtube magnetizing miracles and none worked. My friend moving to Nebraska gave me a bunch of junk from his garage that he didn't want to take with him. One of the things was a large very strong magnet. In 15 minutes, it magnetized a stock drain plug to about 25% of the gauss of an aftermarket market drain plug. I will leave it on overnight and test again.
