my klr is not able to go past 60 mph.

It's hard to say what was wrong. The air/fuel screw was set at 2 1/4 turns out, does anyone have an opinion on that? I set it at 1 3/4 turns base on what I've read for a stock exhaust. I think I had a clogged passage. To be sure, I half a$$ed the initial carb cleaning and I paid for that laziness. I only cleaned the main and pilot jets by taking them out at first. I sprayed carb cleaner through all the orifices I could find but I never soaked the carb. The second time I soaked it all and blew compressed air through it all. I also removed and soaked the air/fuel screw, it was pretty dirty and varnished. Since my plug wasn't fouled I am sure I had a fuel supply issue (wasn't getting enough fuel at upper throttle settings). If the plug was fouled or wet, I'd think otherwise. The enrichener issue I had shouldn't have made a difference in the upper throttle range, right? Oh by the way, I have run 2 cans of Sea Foam through it as well. Well, almost 2 cans, a little went into the crankcase... Now, about my oil burning issue. Any thoughts? ________________________________ From: RobertWichert To: "david.r.nichols@..." I mean, OK, it was the carburetor, but any idea what was wrong with the carb? Plugged something? Just curious. Glad it's running though! Congratulations. Robert Wichert P.Eng.
