Hey the post office is going to raise stamps by a penny, saying they are losing money. I am back, to helping them out, ALL the junk mail with NO postage return envelopes I open and send Back, instead of shredding un opened. Stick there info with your info in it, let THEM shread it, and the PO gets more work. That said: While I hate to pay a penny more then I HAVE TO, I think it's pretty cheap to send a letter even 2 blocks, let alone 2500 miles (5000 if returned) for $.43 cents, how far would you travel for that little? I think they should go ahead and make an even 50 cents and give themselves some breathing room. A penny ofr two every year or so doesn't seem to be working.

What they also need to do is stop Saturday and Wednesday deliveries. Saturday for everyone and Wednesdays for homes. As technology get's more advanced the USPS is a doomed business. It's sad as it's been around for so long and was so important when our country was young and there was no other communications methods. It was fantastic that the folk back east would receive a note from a relative out west saying all was well and to come out there. I am totally tired of walking to the mailbox only to find it full of total crap which is not opened but ripped in half and recycled

Not so fast friends, not so fast. Several of you commented about "junk mail". I have a different slant. I started and later sold a small business, and we used monthly Direct Mail Advertising targeted at the group that we worked for, in my case, lawyers. Some might see it as junk mail, but that "junk" brought in measurable amounts of new business. I mailed 1000 advertising pieces per month, and could track how many responses I got from that mail out. And better yet, I usually picked up four or five new clients that then used my services on a regular basis; that was the real end results of the "junk mail". Junk Mail you say, fine, but my guess is that you glance it over as you pitch it. And, you might have clipped a coupon or two, or learned of a sale at a nearby retailer. If "junk mail" did not work, they would not send it! BTW, what sustains the USPS today is the "junk mail"! UPS and Fed Ex cornered the overnight service, a letter from someone out West to their East Coast family is a relic of the last century! E mail or text is the norm today, so about the only thing that the USPS has left is the "junk". If the "junk mail" disappears, the USPS follows. That said, I'll give the USPS the extra one cent per stamp that they want, and you can keep my two cents in this commentary. Gee, I hope that no one thinks that I went "postal" on them, and I do not work for the USPS, never did, I applied, but I was told that since I am sane, I was not eligible for a job. I routinely send express mail to Tokyo. under $30 . The same service (3-5 days) via Fedex is $88. The difference is huge if you send lots of small packages back and forth. --charlie

Privatize and let some enterprising hard working folks figure out how to compete. Think UPS, Fed-x etc. Disparos del canon de un iPhone 4S
