hid for klrs

I ran extra bright bulbs on my 04. When I added a second one above the headlight, my battery would not restart if my revs stayed below 4000 rpm with the aux. light on for more than 15 mins. I GOT a a real HID slim ballast and real H4 hid bulb setup for $3 on ebay but it cost $21 shipping from China. However, it has worked great and only uses 30 watts. I was surprised how good it works. I noticed it is difficult to often find them at the price I did; you might pay $5 or $10 more. J#3 I can probably look up source on my ebay history if not too old.

Can anybody please tell me what kind of plastic the plastic parts on a pre-08 KLR 650 are made of? And no, I don't mean "red" or "green". Thanks! Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

Thought we were discussing HID lamps for KLRs? Kind of interesting that "Subjects" get hi-jacked with completely unrelated topics. Makes for an untidy database. I'd like to hear more about HID lamps for KLRs. I was out after dark on Monday (rare for me on the KLR) and that '06 headlight sucks. Don R100, A6F

OK, sorry for messing up the subject... But regarding lights - I have an '07 and I replaced my headlight bulb with the BEST BRIGHTEST Sylvania bulb that I could find at my local auto parts store. "SilverStar" I think. BIG improvement. Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

it's put on by Horizons Unlimited. There will be workshops, classes and power points on motorcycling and travel. Several world class authors will be on hand. I have been to 3 of these events in Colorado and loved each one. www.horizonsunlimited.com/california [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
