Personally, I haven't made up my mind yet whether to migrate to the upmarket (Extended Performance) version of Mobil1 15W-50, or try the regular Mobil1 0W-40 that looks suspiciously similar to the Mobil1 MX4T (assuming the 0W-40 is cheaper than the MX4T). I'm of the opinion that any 15W40 "Diesel" oil such as; Shell Rotella, Mobil Delvac, Chevron Delo, etc, is a Godsend to the MC community (at least to the penny-pinchers). They contain no friction modifiers (making them OK for wet-clutch bikes), are high in Zinc and cost a buck and change per quart. Yes that's so true. On my treads, I use Caltrol Dyno Synth. I find this to be the slipperiest of the lot and makes them spin out with the merest hint of throttle opening. The resultant short ride is most entertaining. -- GW (sorry, couldn't resist )

overfilling an engine will cause foaming of the oil therefore reducing it's efficiency,it will also cause the excess to try to find a way out.try it on your lawnmower there is a one way breather valve that lets it out of the crankcase.must be the same for bikes.to much could be as bad as not enough,stressing seals etc.

Folks who have been around here for a while is tired of hearing 'bout oil. It is discussed about once a week. The KLR650 is not finicky about oil. The 20-50 Castrol will work fine as will anything that is 10w40, 10w50, 20w40 or 20w50 or anything in between car or motorcycle specific. genez11 wrote:Is there a certain oil to use in the KLR?
