free carb update

I have a Garmin GPS and I'm looking into the different ways to attach it to my 2003 KLR. I was thinking about either the crossbar on the handlebars or possibly on the inside of the windscreen. What have others done or web sites that you would recommend? What works best and things to avoid? I would need it to easily detach so that I could use it in my car as well. The eTrex unit I have has a way to attached to a handlebar using one of their $20 kits. Has worked for the last 5 yrs. Don R100, A6F

Hi Rob, I've got mine mounted on my bars, but that's too low and too close for easy reading while riding. I'm going to move it to above my instrument pannel. http://www.gpscity.com/gps-mount/universal-waterproof/aqua-box-6-medium I love mine. Completely water proof sitting in a parking lot all day or riding all day in the rain. You just can't drop your bike in a river and leave it. You would have more issues than a GPS anyway if that happened. The flex lens will yellow in a year or so in the sun, so order a few extra. (CHEAP! $5:00 bucks) Get the double ended 4" ball Stanton with the bar clamp ball on one end and a socket to mount to the unit case. Position completely adjustable John T.

I got a RAM mount with the mount to hold my Garmin eTrex and it works just fine. Easy to remove the GPS holder off the handlebar clamp too, loosen the ball socket enough to slip off the ball. I got it free so, its a wonderful deal... Dooden A15 Green Ape
