front caliper seal

2001 KLR650, 73,000 km, The front brake seals let go. According to the Clymers manual I have to let the new ones (from Kawasaki) sit in brake fluid (dot 4) for 15 minutes prior to install. When the rear seals were replaced 4 years ago, by a competent mechanic, he just dropped the new ones in & bled the brakes. Any insight into installing the new front seals? Brian
