I think the wings are to direct air or duct the air drawn by the fan for improved cooling arent they? The 08+ improved on the cooling issues in a few ways and I think that was one of the bits of that

This didn't go thru yesterday, trying again. ______________________________________________________ It claims a 7.9 gallon capacity. I wonder how much of that is usable... Aside from corrosion, plastic tanks like these are much more scratch and dent proof than steel painted tanks. Safari tanks have a reputation for being pricey, I think the DS650 models go for $650. I am just passing on info, I have no connection or interest with them, I promise Fred... ________________________________ From: Thomas Komjathy To: "david.r.nichols@..." ; DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wed, March 23, 2011 4:13:02 PM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] Kawasaki KLR650 Safari Tank Question. From what I know Safari Tanks is an Australian company that makes high capacity plastic tanks for a lot of motorcycles like IMS does. It's unclear, but I think they will be making these for 2008 and newer models, which would make sense because IMS has tanks for pre 2008's. I just found the official photos of the 2008 and up tank, they say it is 8 gallons. Priced at $600 on justgastanks.com. Here is a link to the justgastanks.com Facebook photo album: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150276469356401.327750.76705716400&type=1 Just passing information, I have no interest in this personally since mine's a 1997 model.

I hope the tank comes with a fuel pump, otherwise a lot of the capacity would never make it to the carb. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa

The Justgastanks.com site says it'll fit the post-2007 and the "classic" model (Hear that? "Classic"!), hold about 33 litres (that's 8.7 gallons), $600, available 10/3/11. -JWF

Hmmm, it's a little pricey though... Besides the extra capacity do you think there's any other advantages over the IMS tanks for 87-07 KLR's? -David ________________________________ From: James W. I'm an IMS ignoramus. But the Justgastanks.com guy, Ben Rosenthal, emailed me that, "knowing Safari, all the fuel will be available... they may use a vacuum pump or something similar... it's all speculation at this point." He said he'd try for more info, and I clicked on the keep-me-posted button on his website.

question about turn signals.

You need to keep your KLR away from your computer so it won't get any ideas. I keep my KLR in the garage, and make sure my smart phone is in it's holster whenever I get near it... :-)

I currently have an IMS Safari tank on my '05 KLR - it would definitely fit my '10, but the various fairing pieces would be problematic - it would be necessary to refit them, or run without them, as far as I can determine. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
