Buy a different bike. There won't ever be enough on a KLR. ________________________________ From: Brian Pierson To: "DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com" DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2011 5:11 PM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Mods Can someone tell me more about Mods for more power, any would help. You beat me to it. You don't buy a KLR if you want tons of power. There are other bikes for that. You buy a KLR for durability, versatility and simplicity. ...at least I did. If I wanna go fast I jump on the 'strom.

front axle clamp bolts, air tools, car tire shops

Post by Jeffrey » Sun Aug 28, 2011 10:40 pm

The evil is most likely air tools. Most car tire shops have their air compressors turned way up and the impact wrenches are on avg hitting lug nuts with 150 to 200 ft/lbs of torque. If they guy who did the final assembly at the moto dealership with air tools to speed things up... A friend recently got new tires for her Infiniti I30. They overtightened the lug nuts by 50 ft/lbs and cross threaded one. I sent her back to make them fix/replace the cross threaded lug nut and stud. Evidently, they fixed the lug nut and stud but stripped a caliper mounting/sliding bolt in the process. I gave up and fixed the caliper for her; that bolt kit was only 13 dollars on that auction site. Most larger cars and SUVs can handle the 150 to 200 ft/lbs of torque that they are putting on the lugs but smaller cars cannot handle it without causing real damage. J#3
