klr650 : flat :(

Post by Marc » Fri Jul 15, 2011 10:03 am

Well being 6 foot 3 inches and 300 lbs and having a packrat rack with 40mm ammo cans 40+lbs without gear in them, my sw motech center stand isn't going to add too much to the bike. My wife also rides with me , but she wouldn't tell me her weight. ~~~Hey Marc, Centerstands are nice to have. I have one on my one and only current motorcycle, a 2005.5 KTM 950A, but it came with the centerstand already installed when I bought it last year about this time. When I bought my 08' KLR in late 07', it didn't come equipped with a centerstand, nor did I feel one was necessary. Let's put it this way, for what it would cost to buy one and install it myself, I'd rather spend that money on gas and tires. I can easily deal with getting a wheel on or off a bike fully loaded or not, on the side of the road or on a trail. Necessity is the Mother of Invention=:-) Best, Jake Reddick Fla. I bought my SW-Motech centerstand used from a guy who abused it more than he used it (no pun intended). I got it cheap and all I had to do was buy new bolts. (although I did paint it silver to match the frame -I had the paint). I try not to buy anything new or I make it. Have a good one. newer rear shock on pre08

Post by Fred Hink » Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:59 pm

The top bolt is the same on both shocks. The lower bolt is the same diameter but longer on the pre 08 shocks.
