i bought my 2005 klr650 new, i didnt want a street bike, but wanted to be able to have passenger, and go on hiway, i ride on street 98% of the time, and not much of that as i've only accumulated 1500 mls, and last winter i was really mean to it and left old fuel sit in tank with no stabil, now it wont idle, and it takes forever before i can shut off choke, and then only stays running if i give it throttle exactly when shut off choke, i've changed fuel, added stabil, still same, i took off fuel on off lever, blew through it, with a little effort i was able to blow through it, and thought i seen something come out when it freed up, now it starts a little easier, but still same problem, what next any help would be greatly apreciated

Thomas,
The pilot jet is clogged. It takes about an hour to clean it.

Wouldn't an off-road-ish trailer be better than placing that much stuff on
the bike, especially two-up?
It seems that you have limited the KLR's abilities due to loading, and you
would lose less with a trailer.
Don't get me wrong- whatever works for you!
But it seems that some are almost mocking when discussion of trailers comes
up, and if I was considering a trip that *required* that much gear I would
be thinking I needed a trailer, even without the SO on the back as well.
Of course, I am talking via my sphincter, because I have *zero* adventure
touring experience, and also *zero* experience with with motorcycle
trailers.

Sounds like a blocked pilot jet to me, too. The sure method is to strip the carb and clean it, but if you are not eager to jump into that, you can first try some Seafoam, and if that doesn't work, some Yamaha carb cleaner in the float bowl overnight.
