klr tow-behind trailer?
Can't find much useful on the internet about using the KLR to tow a trailer, and what trailer to use.
I'd like to have about 250 pounds of cargo towed behind my KLR for on-road and limited dirt road riding (probably not off-road cross-country). I read that a single-wheel unit gives the best riding control, but some seem to strongly disagree with this.
I'd like to hear from you if you've towed behind your KLR and how it worked out for you. What kind of trailer do you have (or recommend)?

I strongly disagree with the concept of towing a trailer behind a motorbike. I have a friend who pulls one behind a Gold Wing and I keep telling him he is hauling too much crap around, but some people, you can't tell 'em anything.

klr tow-behind trailer?
A friend designed his own single wheel trailer and I have been with him at 90 mph and it works fine on his 1200 bandit. Personally I don't like pulling trailers even with a car. Too much to worry about. Tires, bearings, backing etc. I had my Hobie Cat on a trailer shove my Toyota pickup through an intersection once. The KLR doesn't have near enough brakes for pulling one in my opinion.

klr tow-behind trailer?
A guy drives into my shop the other day on a Goldwing. He is pulling a 4x8 trailer loaded with a Kayak, Mtn. Bike, DR650 and all his camping stuff. He seemed to be having fun. (Isn t that the name of the game?)
The Goldwing is a massive machine and can handle pulling a trailer. The KLR isn t so massive and you will be limited to what it will pull. Maybe a sidecar would better suit a KLR than pulling a trailer. Either one will have it s drawbacks. There is lots more information online about a KLR w/sidecar than KLR/trailer.

klr tow-behind trailer?
Fred I knew a guy who used to pull his fishing joghn boat (with motor) with an older Gold Wing. I wouldn't want to.

I always wondered how one of these would work on a KLR .....
Get rid of the street tire and put a 50/50 on it and take it all the way to your favorite secluded fishin' hole !!!

klr tow-behind trailer?
WAY BACK in the old days (74?) We (Mom) were pulling the snowmobil trailer with two sleds on it. (sled = snowmobil for yu sunny area folk)
Doing about 45 she went off the road just a couple of inchs, The trailer tire caught the 2inch drop edge of the road, and next thing I knew we werecompletely facing the other way, a FULL 180. it WHIPPED US AROUND,
(scared the *^&^^&^(*& Enough out of me so I would never forget it.)
When on a bike stopping is allllllll lways an issue, hit the breaks wrong just alittle and the back end comes around.
So what happens when we HAVE TO swerve quick, to avoid a car etc., the trailer going to play the "SNAP THE WHIP" game????
YES riding is a risk, and Most of us wear gear, (I learned the HARD way in the 80's x3.) for SAFTY, how much risk do we want to ADDDDD??

klr tow-behind trailer?
The wife and I passed a slew of chrome and hot leather the other day... One of the chrome-plated pirate ships was pulling a trailer that had wood panel siding and a fabric tonneau cover type of thing. So Kirsty says to me, "Is that a HOT TUB?!?!?" I chuckled and said that if it was, it would be the first thing I'd ever seen worth pulling behind a motorcycle. But it would need to have the cover off, and a nice-looking passenger inside (doesn't hurt to look, right, Rev?).
