crazed cager attacks...oversized ebc rotor saved me on my 2004

Post by Jeffrey » Thu May 19, 2011 7:33 am

I was riding my KLR with a friend on a GXSR going to visit a friend in the hospital. A guy in an old blue Honda? swerved fron the left lane in between our bikes and jumped out of his car and started running toward me. I floored it and just went around him and got the hell out of there. He came within 3 ft of the rear wheel of my friend's GXSR and stopped right in front of me. I had my new EBC contour wave rotor with EBC kevlar/carbon pads. I stopped with room to spare so I could go around the crazy person and his car easily. I probably could have probably stopped without hitting the blue car with stock 04 brakes but I would have had no room to escape the crazed cager. I didn't see a weapon but I had no idea if he had one or not and I prefer not to get in road rage fights esp. when I don't know the other guy's motivation. I never saw this guy before in my life. He looked like that sketch of the LA Dodger fan who attacked and almost killed the San Francisco Giant fan. We had been riding pretty conservatively. We did split lanes and move to the front of stopped traffic at the red light a half mile back. This happened in Sylmar area...near Foothill and 210 Fwy in CA. Jeffrey #3

handguards for '09 klr650?

Hi guys, Here's a follow-up summary for posterity. The Barkbuster VPS handguards fit on a stock 2008 - no risers, stock handlebars at the default rotation - without impacting the fairing at either full left or right stop. The only modification is cutting or removing the metal loop on the left side. You don't need to bend the handguards or move any of the bike's controls out of the way. If you don't remove the metal loop, the left handguard just touches the fairing at full right stop. Fitting info: http://www.barkbusters.net/images/stories/documents/fitting-instructions/kawasaki_klr650_fitting_information.pdf Instead of disconnecting the cables, I just cut through the metal loop. If there are any problems with this setup that appear after I hit the dirt, I'll post here. I'll be selling the Acerbis Rally Pro handguards and mounts. Thanks for all the help, guys. Much appreciated. Daniel
