<><><><><><> <><><><><><> Kevin, I pack the entire speedo drive on my 03 KLR with wheel bearing grease. I figure if it's full of grease it's not full of water. Since I joined this site back in the fall of 2004, I have enjoyed the feeling of belonging to a family, a family that's willing to 'pitch-in' and help when you have a problem, complete with good advice, and sometimes a small "dig" to let you know that you're NOT getting away with anything! I put 77,780 kms on my '04 KLR over the years, and met several GREAT people through here (Bill Watson and Norm Keller come to mind), as well as having long distance relationships with a lot of you (Martin Earl and Jeff Saline, and a couple of Rons come to mind). NEVER had a deal go bad. I bought a Versys back in '08 (MOTY!) to ride while I winter in AZ (25,000 MILES on 'Big Red' now, including LOTS of high-speed dirt roads on street tires), and like it so much that I bought a new "left-over" '09 Versys (the Green Hornet) last November in AZ, and imported it to Canada when I returned in April, to replace 'old reliable', the KLR. I put an advert out a few days ago, and the FIRST fellow that came to see it took a demo ride then pulled out a wad of $, made me an offer I just couldn't refuse. We loaded up the KLR into his pickup, tied 'er down, and it rode out of my life.... I hope that somehow some of MY experiences that I wrote about struck a cord with some of you, and MAYBE even helped a little! Fred Hink - you run a tight ship here! Carry on. Cheers, "Fast Eddie" PS For you fellow Canadians, I have some 'farkles' for sale: 1. Corbin saddle - the FLAT one, NOT the 'dished', with a sealed repair where it rubbed thru the cover while on my motorhome, in GOOD condition. $225 2. BRAND NEW front and rear brake discs at...$150 each 3. eight oil filters at $5 apiece 4. a BMW windshield I modded to attach to the crossbar nearer your chest - GREAT rain protection...$35 5. KLR clock - it's a waterproof Casio watch and stuff to attach it to your crossbar (even fits OTHER crossbars!) $35 6. RAM GPS mount (used with a Garmin 2610) and it'll fit OTHER handlebars... $25 7. soft-luggage brackets (for BOTH sides) to keep your bags from melting on the muffler (I made these).... $50 8. Motion Pro clutch cable - carried, but UNUSED $30 9. tool canisters - these can be mounted in various places, are BRAND-NEW, there are TWO, and are $10 apiece. ALL prices are OBO, PLUS postage!
