I think in order to get a 9/10 output frequency you'll have to do it in at least two steps. First, you'd probably build a "Divide by 10" digital frequency divider as described here: http://www.play-hookey.com/digital/frequency_dividers.html Then, now that you have a 1/10 frequency sample, attach that output to a two-diode odd-order frequency multiplier (or two - for a 1 x 3 x 3 = 9) to achieve the "x9" desired result. http://www.wenzel.com/documents/2diomult.html Hope this puts you on the right path. -Jeff Khoury From: "Jeff Khoury" To: "Craig Kahler" Cc: "dsn klr650" dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, March 25, 2011 8:32:54 AM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] NKLR KLX250 speedometer error digital electronic I used to know how to do it, back when my job title was "Electronics Technician". However, that was about 15years ago and I've forgotten the finer points of IC circuit design.-Jeff Khoury From: "Craig Kahler" To: "dsn klr650" dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, March 25, 2011 5:58:07 AM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] NKLR KLX250 speedometer error digital electronic I just bought a 09 KLX250s. Its speedometer error is worse than my KLR650. It reads about 11% high. The speedometer works by counting 5V square wave pulses sent by the front wheel sensor. I am trying design a simple pulse reduction circuit, using common ICs, which would output at a rate of 9 pulses for every 10 pulses in. I am hoping there is someone on the list that is good with logic circuits that may know of a chip that would acomplish this. Thanks to everyone that replied. I guess there is no need to reinvent the wheel.
I didn't know these devices existed.
Here is one I found for $80.

Since we've moved to Lincolnshire (England) I been exposed to some great
racing.
The beautiful, and spectator-friendly Cadwell Park racing circuit is in the
county and the just-renovated Donington Park F1 and motoGP circuit is about an
hour away.
But the real magic is in the road racing. Unfortunately, there's not much of
that around the East Midlands where I am.
These are real roads closed off for a day racing on what are more-or-less
WSB-spec bikes (as well as other classes).
Many racers will race more than one class on the day as well.
One of the protagonists of the TT3D movie, Guy Martin, is a local Lincolnshire
hero.
Great, down-to-earth guy, and just a wee bit eccentric. He still holds a day
job as a lorry (truck) mechanic as it's something he enjoys.
That's what you see him doing during his cut scenes in the trailer.
I won't ruin it for you, but most folks that read the motorcycling press over
here were made aware of Guy Martin's "spectacular" 2010 IOMTT result in all it's
front-page-spread glory.
The trailer for this gives me goosebumps. Hopefully, it'll do for the TT and
roadracing what Dust to Glory did for the Baja 1000.
Furthermore, the Isle Of Man government is floating the idea for a TT world
series.

In one of the last few paragraphs of that article, an opening round in the US is
mentioned.
My guess is that this will never come to bear, but I'll keep my finger crossed.

The IoM has been one of the events I've wanted to see for years, I'll make it
sometime but the logistics of actually making the trip right now are just more
time consuming then I can spare time. I included a rather interesting link from
I believe 2 summers ago when for awhile it looked like we were going to get a TT
in Nova Scotia, in Cape Breton not to far from the Cabot Trail. Can't really
remember what sunk it but I would suspect putting on a new TT on public roads
would be close to impossible today....Enjoy the evening......Greg
