Does anyone use or have an opinion on the UFO low mount fender. I was wondering if it cut down on any effects the wind has on the front end at highway speeds.

Yes, it absolutely does. I have had mine mounted of a couple of months and have found it to be very effective in eliminating wind effect. Yep I recently installed one. Please see message #77647 since I'm sure others will appreciate it if I don't repost my observations.

I've had one for about a year and I really like it. As I recall I had to modify the mounting holes a little to allow for adjustment. Someone mentioned that theres looked out of place on thier bike. I put on black fork boots and I think it looks nice that way. My bike is an A-12, blue-green model. got it from Fred for ~$30.00 give or take. Joe S.

Fred are you thinking of stocking them? i did change the fender on mine the end of last year not the low,to go with my new paint job and it looks a little better than stock though it doesn't work worth a "Fiddlers F^*K" with keeping the Mud off me or the bike. I was thinking of trying the low next and I've got a pic of the low on a bike somewhere,I'm also wondering how something that close to the wheel would stand up to the abuse of offroad riding. Stu. I sent List message # 200068 about six weeks ago. Guess you missed the memo. The option of allowing attachments was on a trial period and the only feedback I received then was negative concerning the download times for those on slower internet connections. There are other ways to provide images rather than sending the whole photo to this list. If you would like to post a photo, you can add it to our Photos section and then send the URL to the list. This should satisfy everyone for now. Our Photos section should be used for KLR specific photos and if you have some other type of photo you would like to post, I d suggest you post it somewhere else and then send the URL to that image to the list. Same list rules apply, keep it clean and use NKLR in the Subject line if not KLR related. Fred List Admin. Stu, I have been (15yrs+) and as far as I know the only one in N. America that does. I try to keep all the colors in stock, black, white, red and blue. They are hard to get shipped over from Italy and so supply sometimes is limited. This fender works well for those that want to get rid of the "sail effect" of their stock high fender. It should also provide better water and light mud protection. I say "light mud" because with any fender that runs close to your tire, you don't want to use this fender in heavy mud because it could clog and cause the tire to rub or stop. (NOT GOOD) The UFO fenders I have installed and seen mounted will usually allow about a fingers width of clearance which is plenty for rain but not so good for heavy clay. This type of fender has been used for a long time. They look real similar to the fender that came on the KLR650B Tengai http://www.jahkola.net/mp/n0029.jpg and also the Honda Transalp http://lovik.tripod.com/tr1.jpg , and others. So if you are wanting rain protection, it will work great but if you want to ride in mud, just be careful. These fenders are not a KLR specific fender but a universal mount. They will require some "fitting" to make them work well. Still looking for a photo of the UFO fender on a late model KLR.
