I found a T in 1 1/4" but not a coupler. The largest socket I have is for the rear axle nut--nowhere near 38mm but I should be ok with the T and some heat. All that is left is some 15 weight fork oil... Thanks, Steve A-14

Go to auto parts store and get a couple bottles of ATF. The 4-way was nice cause I could tap on two sides, just rotate the "T" from side to side and work seal down slowly. Be careful not to hit the fork tube when tapping. Large adjustable wrench fits rear axle. I have some cheapy one size fits many with in range of tool. Its a handle with a swivel thing on the end. Had these things for almost 30 yrs bent handles, hammer marks on them, but the things just keep going and going. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Attachments : Mark,

Riding across the North part of Montana is much like riding across North Dakota ; not bad, but pretty flat and open with little irregularities in the landscape. I d recommend taking a more southerly route.

Take Hwy 10 across South Dakota until you intersect Hwy 83, then go South to Hwy 12 and take Hwy 12 West through Mobridge. Stay on Hwy 12 until you get to Miles City, MT; at that point go South on Hwy 59 until you intersect Hwy 212 and then head West.  This will take you past the Battle of the Little Big Horn, which is worth a stop. Just West of that stop is the Crow Agency at that spot find the frontage road to I-90 (on the West of I-90) and head South until you get to Hwy 14 near Ranchester Wyoming.  Head West on Hwy 14 and 14A through the Big Horn Mountains . When you get to Lovell, WY get on Hwy 310 and head North until you intersect Hwy 72, then go South a little ways until you get to Hwy 308 and then go West to Red Lodge, MT (great little town).  From Red Lodge go South over Beartooth Pass and into Yellowstone National Park . Stay there as long as you can. When you depart Yellowstone go out the West entrance through West Yellowstone and North on Hwy 287 up to Ennis, MT. At Ennis go West to Twin Bridges and then go South to Dillon , MT.  When in Dillon find Hwy 278 and head West to Wisdom, MT. At Wisdom head West on Hwy 43 until you intersect Hwy 93, take it North to Polson, MT. At Polson get on the East side of Flathead Lake and head North to Glacier National Park . Take the Going to the Sun Road. Eventually find yourself in Whitefish, MT (another great little town) from there get back on Hwy 93 and head to Eureka , MT. Once in Eureka get on Hwy 37 and head South until you intersect Hwy 2. At that  point head West as far as you want to go.

Taking this route, in my opinion, is much more interesting than the more northerly choices.

Enjoy,

Greg

I love riding it the day it opens.  Riding over four of five mountain passes on a bare and wet road between two 15 foot high vertical walls of snow is a surreal treat.

Hey ALL

A new (non bike) Topic to start planning for a RIDE. (If I can't ride I want to dream and PLAN for a ride.

I hope to (ROUGHLY) take highway 2 from I-75, UP MI. to Washington (yearly+-) this summer.   cutting across the top of the U.S.A..

Anyone know of any interesting sights, Good eats, cheap but CLEAN motels, campgrounds, ETC..

Last fall I rode across Canada to Bar Harbor Maine, and had to wing it all the way, stopping at a dingy overpriced motel, just to find out, 10 more miles and it was nonstop campgrounds for the next 50 miles, (30 +?)

Or that  1000 islands, a border crossing would have been nice to spend a day.

While I DO ENJOY wondering, sometimes it's nice to have some stops "planned" (LOL)

when it's a longer trip.

On my back roads trip to Denver (Estes park Co., A MUST RIDE) I found some VERY old towns, (A plus) and some campgrounds that wanted as much as a motel 5 miles away, $45. (AND IT WAS LATE FALL END OF SEASON)

Thanks Mark (W. Mi.)
