putting the bike back together - questions

Post by Steve » Sat Nov 06, 2010 7:25 am

Well, after blowing up in Brazil in 2009 my 2006 Kawi is almost rebuilt. It's sitting in my workshop here in Panama, the new (used) motor is in, and as soon as I get a new battery I will attempt to crank it up. Keep your fingers crossed! The problem (at least one of them) with rebuilding the bike after taking it apart a year and a half ago is that I just don't remember where everything goes. After checking the Clymer manual and the Kawi manuals, still no help. So... questions for the experts: 1) Where does the vacuum hose attach to? Not then end at the gas tank, but the other end. I'm clear on where the fuel hose attaches on the carb, but not the vacuum hose. 2) There's a plastic piece, shaped like a "V" or "U", with a series of six holes in it. It's about 8" long. (I'm happy to send a picture, but I don't know how to post one on this forum). Where does it go? 3) on the left side of the engine, about 2-3 inches above the drive sprocket there is a tapped hole (picture also available). What is supposed to attach here, if anything? 4) Regarding the battery: It's not so easy here in Panama to find a wide variety of batteries. The current one is a Yuasa (sealed) that required a little modification of the box to fit. What sizes will fit the Kawi? Also, if I can't find a 14 amp battery, what is the downside or danger or a 12 amp (readily available here). Thanks for your help guys.
