Your 2 1/8 turn out now ? typical starting point is 1 3/4 on most carbs.
Hitting the sweet spot on the pilot circuit (idle mix some call it) is pretty easy to do, with bike warmed up and idling, start to turn the needle in until it starts idling weird, now counting the turns turn it out until it starts to idle weird again and stop, turn the needle back to the half way point and you have the sweet spot.
I said long ago if I ever had to take the carb out I was going to drill the slide, but have yet to take the carb out, rotated it years back to drill out the pilot circuit cap.

bike over reving in neutral
hi all
need a bit of help with my 1989 klr, after a long balast no my bike,it started to over rev in neutral, now if i try so start her she just revs up to 3000 rpm+ can anybody help
