I have the same problem and tried on a countless number of brands and styles.  Finally someone recommended Aerostich’s Combat Touring Boots:  http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-combat-touring-boots.html.  I don’t know what width they are, but I’m normally a size 14 6E and the size 14’s are actually a little big on me (if they ever wear out I’ll order the 13.5’s).  They have a wide top with an internal “speed lace”, wide Velcro strips for closure along with a single buckle over the instep (no zippers or multiple buckles that are the deal killer on most riding boots).  They can be re-soled, which is good for me because at 6’5” and 330 I’m pretty tough on footwear.  I also have a bum ankle and they provide excellent support. They’re a little stiff at first, but like all good leather products are plenty supple when broken in and are all-day comfortable.  They are not advertised as water proof, but with proper treatment they’re pretty darn close.  They’re made by Sidi in Italy.  They ain’t pretty, but they serve the purpose.

Sun Aug 1, 2010 7:41 am (PDT) Hey all  I'm a size 9 EEEE, the biggest issue, is at 12inch's up, My calf is 19inchs. So even a size 12 will not close (clamp) shut. And before the lose 100lbs jokes, I'm only about 25lbs over. more exercize bigger calfs. (long ago, when 32 waist & 54chest calf was 20+in. ) (OK now start the jokes, But Include any REAL, helpfull comments like try these boots, too)
