This could be a ride report in that I went for a ride through the Uwharrie park in NC while on my way to a party on a lake. The ride down was excellent with the temperatures holding in the high 70's low 80's. I'm not fully armored but have my riding jacket, good jeans , and my most excellent Oxtar boots. The place has a lot of sweeping curves around low hills they call mountains there. It was a good ride with the chance to traverse a few 2 track fire roads. Three hours into the party party eating homemade ice cream I noticed the sky turning dark and decide to make my way home. 15 minutes into the ride home on the straight fast roads the first few drops hit, 5 minutes the sky opened and it was what in some parts of the south we call a "frog thumper". I'm soaked, having not thought to bring the rain gear, which is OK, but now visibility is about 20 feet. I stopped at a gas station to cower under the awning while the rain persisted. In pulls what i believe was a Fat Boy with a man in his 30's wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers. His first words is that the rain hitting his bare skin was like needles being driven into him. I came close to explaining how going down in the rain wearing shorts was going to feel like being skinned alive, but kept it to a "yep"... Now for a bit of Oxtar praise; I was soaked to the bone everywhere except my feet, after pulling off the gear I noticed that my socks were perfectly dry.

best info on oil anywhere
#ygrps-yiv-1653947368 p {margin:0;}Good Morning Group,
I know that people have an almost religious attachment to their oil opinions, and I am no different. I have an almost unhealthy obsession with researching topics that I'm interested in and in that process I ran across a site that really opened my eyes in regards to motor oil. After reading all the articles, I have changed to a different oil in the KLR, and will probably be switching around on my car and truck as well.
Here's a link to the site, I wholeheartedly recommend everyone read these articles:

The site plays to my scientific tendencies and is full of data / measurements and his findings are quantifiable rather than speculative. I took the quiz at the end of the article and I only missed one! I now feel much better equipped to back up my opinion on motor oil selection.
BTW, I switched to Rotella T6 Synthetic in 5w-40 in the KLR (It's JASO MA certified to boot!). I've noticed a marked change in performance of the bike and that my clutch pack is much less sticky in the mornings the first time I put it in gear. It's 19 bucks a gallon at the local Wally World, and that's not too shabby for a full synthetic considering Syntec and Mobil 1 are 7.69 a quart locally and motorcycle synthetic oils are upwards of $9.00.
I'd go into more detail on the reasoning behind that selection, but no one would read it anyway. Heck, I doubt anyone's read this far.
