travel tool list request

Post by eddiebmauri » Tue Jul 06, 2010 6:50 am

I'd like to ask that anyone who has a travel tool kit, to please e mail a copy to me. I am putting my (travel) tool list together and learned a lot from the list that Jeff recently posted. I note that Jeff did not include spare tire tubes, that is an item that I plan to include, and a patch kit. So, if you have a list of the items in your (travel) tool kit, please send me a copy. Thanks. I all ready have my camping items together, the only thing that I lack is the "ultimate complete tool list." Again, thanks. Eddie (03' KLR - "la poderosa")

#ygrps-yiv-1639821464 p {margin:0;}I was trying to balance space and weight vs. functionality.  I'm pretty good with a patch kit, so I didn't consider it a big deal.  Sometimes it can be just as fast to patch as it is to replace, considering you may be able to just pull the damaged section of tube out of the rim and patch it in place. If you haven't patched a tube in a while, you may want to practice a couple of times on an old tube. Important parts: Scrub a nice big area around the puncture with sandpaper or the scuffer.  Do this really well. Use a thin coat of rubber cement, rub it around a bit and wait till the wet sheen is gone before applying the patch.  Don't touch the gray side of the patch with your fingers.  Place the center of the patch first, then work out any air bubbles to the sides.  Make sure the edges are nice and smooth.  Press hard. Allow the rubber cement to cure for a few minutes before stuffing the tube back in to the rim. "Huff" the tube so that it sits nicely in the rim and doesn't put stress on the patch. -Jeff Khoury

...and a couple of diodes to "one-way" the signal over the dash indicator. -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Jeffrey For LED turn signals, I think you just need to get the electronic flasher unit instead of the normal $2 thermal blinker that comes stock on KLRs(under the tank)and all cars and trucks more than 10 years old. Though 4 resistors without lifting off the tank might be same work.
