kaw triple 2 stroke

Post by Greg Jewell » Sat May 22, 2010 4:26 pm

Keep an eye on whats in front of you. I used to ride a Suzuki 550 triple 2 stroke. fast and  fun. Once I was sitting at a park and a cop stopped and acually got out of his car to tell me "If I see another bike next to yours, I'm going to arrest both of you!"
Needless to say I was quite offended by his presumption. So I hopped on the bike and dared him to catch me. Metalmanic

kaw triple 2 stroke

Saw a 600cc Yamaha *try* and best a little Ford about an hour ago. The police would have a harder time catching the car. As far as I know, no local police cruiser can even come close to a GT super car. ;) eddie

rim locks

Post by Mark Harfenist » Sun May 23, 2010 7:02 am

Jake asked about rim locks.  I've been using them on my current trip, on which I'm still making forward progress.  The advantages in (at least) peace of mind when running low tire pressures or hobbling on a flat to the tire repair place just up the highway are obvious (I'm in Latin America, where the tire repair places are seldom more than a quarter mile from the place where you take a nail....sometimes more than coincidentally, it seems to me).  Disadvantages are: first, balancing the tire, which seems not to matter much at the age and vibration level of my bike--I added a lot of weight opposite the rimlocks, then just left the weights in place through repeated tire changes. Second, changing out tires or fixing flats becomes more difficult with rimlocks in the way.  This might not matter much if you don't do it often, but if you pound out a lot miles (c.f., if you happen to be touring South America to the tune of 30,000 miles in 8 months) you'll be changing a lot of tires.  The rimlocks get irritating sometimes. Hope that helps. Mark Who is using rim locks here? Posted by: "sh8knj8kster" sh8knj8k@...   sh8knj8kster Sat May 22, 2010 11:04 pm (PDT Any of you peeps running rim locks on your KLR? Have been kicking around doing this so I can run lower tire pressure when I hit the woods, sugar sand So have you drilled your wheels for this and regretted it? Just wondering... what would be the negatives doing this mod? I'm asking as I have never run rim locks my self TIA Jake
