Chris, IF you can make it out here to Alberta, just north of Calgary - I'll give you a hand. Cheers (and good luck) Ed

If you want to come to Minnesota in the spring, we have everything you need available at our annual tech day. It was on May 1 this year, so you missed it. Sometimes it is in April, other times in May. Notice the similarity between MA and MAy. Perhaps somebody is trying to tell you something. If a trip to Minnesota is not to your taste, try the Thumpers section on advrider, or the regional sections on advrider, klrforum, klrWorld or KLR650.net. Look for a tech day near you. I'd be glad to help you personally, but I'd rather do it while Craig is around, because he will invariably find an opportune moment to jump in and finish the job himself, leaving me free to smoke a cigar and make smart remarks. He can't help himself; it's his nature.

Here is the link to the KLR650.net New England section. http://www.klr650.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=47 You will find reference to a couple of tech days. Keep an eye on this section for more.

From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Lee Dodge    The valve is merely a low pressure differential check valve.  As such the direction of "open" flow depends upon how it is installed, for example; spring end away from c'case and it will allow flow out of the c'case (relieving the c'case pressure of decreasing volume from a descending piston and carrying with it oil vapor at the least) in this mode there will be no allowance for any oil to drain back or -and maybe more import rant- it will not allow air to refill the c'case as the piston rises causing a significant vacuum in the c'case.  A vacuum in the c'case causes 2 things; !. a mechanism that would help oil to move past the oil ring into the c'case. 2. a pumping loss- loss of torque- due to the vacuum tending to want the piston to stay down.  (There's also a pumping loss when the piston comes down related to the inability of the c'case ventilation system to let air out quickly that also subtracts from torque.) __._,_.
