After a year of KLR ownership, I finally rode my '96 on a weekend jaunt to the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. Had a great time, and used a lot of the tips I got from this forum. Having the little air compressor along so I could ride high-pressure tires on the highway and low pressure tires on the trail made a noticeable difference. I rode through my reserve tank but was able to get where I needed to go by tipping the bike over on its right side as I had read about here. Beautiful weather, no major problems. This $1,500 motorcycle investment is paying major dividends in fun. Riding 400 road miles in two days left me with a sore butt. I used the $20 Stearns seat cover from WalMart, and it didn't do the trick for me. I'm thinking of sending my seat in to Spencer at GreatDayToRide.com for a foam transplant. Sounds like a bargain at $85. Since my seat cover is beginning to crack, I might send an aftermarket seat cover (http://www.oemcycle.com/Item/product/7682) along for him to use over the new foam. Anybody have any experience with these seat covers? With shipping, it would bring the total costs of the seat project to around $180. Thanks for all your tips and wisdom. As far as I'm concerned, one of the the best part of owning a KLR is being a part of this community. Kevin
