Remember too, as long as you dont settle out with them, the case remains open on that person's desk and makes bad marks against them. They are judged on how long it takes them to close out claims. Pick yourself out three identical bikes within the area, avg the cost of them and tell them that's what the value is. Make sure you have the printouts to back yourself up. My Escort was rear ended recently. Their insurance only wanted to give me $800 for it, but that wasnt what it was worth. Eventually with the printouts I got $1600 for it and paid the salvage value, $106, to keep it. Ask for proof of the salvage value and who they are selling it to for that price. They cant just pull that number out of their rear end. -Rich in Newberg OR

Your Blue Book value from http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/retail/2009/kawasaki/kl650e-klr650/250288 is $4225. OK, so NADA is higher, so if they are saying less than $4225, he should NOT get another insurance company because he can't.  He's stuck with them for this crash!!!!  He should call the insurance commissioner, like I said. I'm sticking to my two points: 1)    Get a repair estimate FROM THE DEALER.  DON'T ACCEPT THE ADJUSTER'S ESTIMATE. 2)    Figure out based on the value they put on the bike (NADA or KBB), your deductible, and the repair estimate what they MUST DO.  Feel free to read the policy too.
