Hey All.... After out on a ride today on my new 09 a few things I noticed I need to address. At about 4k rpm and 55-60 mph on a straight road I noticed a slight surge at times under steady throttle. Is this normal on a new KLR? Check your chain tension. Sounds like it's a bit loose. Windshield....Gotta do something about it. The wind seems to hit me eye level on my helmet. Guess a taller screen is necessary. Any recommendations? I am about 5'11" You can put on the factory tall windshield and/or the Laminar Lip. I have both. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3 ... 1121850447 Playing around after I got home with some luggage on the rack I noticed 2 little rear hooks that seem to work for rear tie points, but front I can't find anything. I noticed the front bolt for the rack could be removed and with a longer bolt and S hook I think I can place that S hook between 2 nuts on that front rack bolt for a tie down point. Anyone else tried this? I haven't really done any of that, but I did do this: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3 ... 1121850447 20 Bucks from Coleman's surplus. I ordered a 16t sprocket this week and am prepping the bike for a few short trips before any longer ones. Cool, it will fit with the stock chain, you'll just have to move your axle forward. You will cruise more easily on the highway but you'll lose a lot of torque. Oh, also anyone tried that big rubber O ring mod for a throttle lock? Or am I better off getting a lever lock like Vista Cruise? My brother uses the o-ring method and he likes it. The vista cruise gets good reviews but it seemed like too much trouble to mod, mount and adjust for me. I installed the Kaoko throttle lock, and I like it. 5-minute install and looks schweet. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3 ... 0447> I can also tell you I installed the 7/8 Grip Puppies in about 3 minutes, that so far is the best thing I have done! These are great! I like 'em too. BIG improvement. Bob 09 KLR 2007 FJR 1300 Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. Get more from your inbox. Sign up now.
