subframe bolt removal help

Post by Thomas Komjathy » Sun Mar 14, 2010 6:21 pm

Also, If you shock the bolts with a good whack from a hammer and flat head drift, it will break the corrosive bond the bolt has and will come out easier. Certainly spray it down with pen oil and let it sit overnight. Add heat. Use a ratchet with an Allen socket.  Usually works for me. If that doesn't work, try an impact wrench with the above mentioned Allen socket.  -Jeff Khoury

Hi Troops, I'm installing the Motech crash bars, and need to remove the upper subrame bolts. My six inch allen wrench doesn't seem to have the leverage needed to reverse the bolt, even with a pipe extension. Before I twist off the bolt heads is there something else I should use or do to back them out easier? The Motech includes two stronger bolts so you only remove one side at a time and don't need to drill anything. Thanks George Duluth

Tried Twisted Throtles Bags-Connection "Enduro" strap-on Tank Bag? I know the wolfman is one of the best bags out there. But it is about $60 more to my house with a raincover. The Twisted Throtle bag looks well made and securely mounted and I have looked at them at the last IMS in South Carolina, but I do not know anyone who has used one.

Any input?
