Mine likes 1400-1800 by my tach. at sea level. A few random blips with a few double blips on the throttle to check response once warmed. As long as your not trying to make it sound like some missing or scipping harley( no potatoes in this bike) then go by the music she makes is ok... if you hear ugly noises it's to low. A lurch from nuetral to 1st on mine is always noteable. No matter idle speed. I do have to turn my carb idle screw occasionaly here in Jax. Fla. due to some wild temp/ humidity changes in our tropical winter... Oh, did I mention the best riding season is here now? in Fla.

toured the whole country with no problems. Ive been commuting back and forth on the weekends to a town about 3 hours away. For a few weeks straight I hit some storms from hell and rode through them. About two weeks ago on one trip the bike started to jerk back and forth at around 40MPH. It also died a few times when I decellerated. I got to my town and didnt ride the bike for three days. I didnt have any of the formentioned problems, but the bike was really slugish. I decided to take the bike to another town to get looked at. I got about 1 mile out and the bike started to make huge grinding noises and felt the engine chunking really hard. Im really worried I may have done engine dammage.

That sounds like the common issue with a wet clutch, where the plates stick together; usually over night. If that is it than... Before you shift to first; pull in clutch for a few seconds. It might also help to *lightly* rev it up while holding in the clutch. -- Doug Herr A16 in Oakland, California
