light

Post by rockiedog2 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 7:38 am

Anybody know of a reliable, cheap, yes cheap HID light that would make a good replacement for the junk stock one. Preferably 2 four inch ones...there are some out there, about 200 for the pair but reports I have read say they aren't reliable for very long. I dont really care about whether they are dimmable or not, will just take a chance on getting a ticket for that. It would be nice to have a pair and run just one normally; if that one goes out turn the other one on. And alternate which one you normally run for bulb life. The PIAAs and other big name ones look like a ripoff to me and what I have read says some in the PIAA line are the same light as the unreliable 200 buck ones from China. Any info on lights appreciated, and please no lectures about legality Thanks Joe

Hello all, dont think much I can be told here, but it may be good therapy.. I have a 2008 KLR and Im currently living and working in Colombia. I toured the whole country with no problems. Ive been commuting back and forth on the weekends to a town about 3 hours away. For a few weeks straight I hit some storms from hell and rode through them. About two weeks ago on one trip the bike started to jerk back and forth at around 40MPH. It also died a few times when I decellerated. I got to my town and didnt ride the bike for three days. I didnt have any of the formentioned problems, but the bike was really slugish. I decided to take the bike to another town to get looked at. I got about 1 mile out and the bike started to make huge grinding noises and felt the engine chunking really hard. Im really worried I may have done engine dammage. At this point Im arranging truck transport. My biggest worry is the dammage, plus lack of proper mechanical skills or access to parts and loss of my life style due to not having my bike. I guess I just got to deal with one problem at a time..... I guess is why mechnical idiots shouldnt own bikes....
