Was helping out at the shop today and the owner had trouble with a Suzuki LS650. It turned out there was something clogging up the carburetor vent/drain lines. A quick blast of 130psi air blew a small something out of each line and then....................................OH,MY! What in the h*ll is that awful smell????????????' I've smelled rotting meat, the wrong end of a skunk, a pulpwood mill and other assorted stenches. Nothing and I mean nothing came close to whatever we removed from those lines. Initially, it looked like a garden variety dirt dauber wasp nest. But, now, I have no earthly idea what small creepy-crawly could produce such a stink. We never located the debris that came out. My guess it is disintegrated. Can anyone shed some light as to what it could've been? Thanks! eddie PS: The Suzuki ran perfectly afterward. =) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

exhaust modifications

Post by The Reverend » Thu Jul 02, 2009 11:38 am

I used a screwdriver to pull the mesh out of the end of my tail pipe. My bike is an '01. The "tweety" VW noise went away, and the tone was a bit deeper. Legal? It could be a spark arrester, so I won't be allowed in parks/off-road anymore, but I doubt that I exceed noise levels with it. I tried the hole-saw approach, but it took too long, thus the screwdriver method. :) -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of idaho_mtgoat I inquired of others and was told that drill a couple of holes in the end of the exhaust will do the same. What are my options as I am a bit of a minimalist and cutting the end out of my exhaust seems a bit radical. He was also ordering a end to cover the hole. Where can I find a cover to "hide" my modifications if they are worth performing? What should I watch out for, are they legal etc etc.
