klr generator puller

Post by Craig Kahler » Wed Jun 17, 2009 8:31 pm

I used a truck wheel stud, about $4.00. I just asked the auto parts store clerk for a 22mmx1.5mm stud and he found one for me. I ground two flat sides on the end so I could turn it with a wrench. Craig Kahler

the head light has burn out both beams? or the fuse(my guess is the fuse)? my 17 year son is riding the bike(helpless mechanics) and i can't fix it because I'm with ISAF in Afghanistan. is there a trouble shooting page with pictures i can point him at. he has access to a clymer manual. he should have been helping me in the garage instead of playing xbox,,, but it is too late to to complain now. thanks Camp KAIA, Kabul

Likely the fuse under the seat on top of battery in small sliding black box. This burns easily on the KLR if you only for a second toggle the switch so that both low and high beams are on. Need to remove plastic side panels (4 bolts) and seat (2 bolts). It is said that this 10A fuse should be replaced with a 15A to prevent this from reoccuring. Thank you for your service, and God Bless. Keep your head down. Anyway the fuses are under the seat, if he can take the side covers and seat off the bike the fuses are in a black holder that clips to the top of the battery area. They are the old glass type fuse, should be a 10 amp in there, I think I replaced mine with a 15 amp and have yet to pop that one. Dooden A15 Green Ape
