I have an 06 that was just recently rebuilt. I ran it out of oil. it was covered under warranty. It has 3400 miles. The dealer claims that there was dirt in the cylinder causing it to use oil.I wiped out cam bearings, doohickey spring, and there was 2 lines in the cylinder so they had to bore it. Is that common? Never had that problem with any other bike I had. Also what is the best way to break these bikes in?

need opinion on a few things with my klr
I have an '06 (~16,000 miles now)from new and it is an all stock engine except for the doo and torsion spring. I seem to use more oil when I'm running it at 65-70 mph for long periods of time. I also seem to use more oil when I have synthetic oil in it versus Spectro dino oil 10W-40. But I can go weeks without needing to add more oil (fill to the window's top mark after the level drops to the lower line) but that usually doesn't get to happen since I always make sure it is OK before going on a weekend trip (500-600 miles).
Dirt in the cylinder is a new one. Is the air cleaner OK? What does the fender look like at the end of the muffler? If black and oily you are burning it. Any puddles of oil under the bike? It might be dripping out through a leak or maybe the crankcase breather tube is loose.

Just wondering what warranty would cover 'running out of oil', was it a
extended warranty from Kawasaki?

I hope you can hear it before buying it, coworker was all proud of his compact air horn on his loud ass HD and honestly the air horn sounds wimpy. Loud maybe, but wimpy sounding.
