oil leaks

Sometimes when I come to a stop, maybe a little more sudden than usual, the engine cuts out. I then press the button and it starts right up, no problem. But it has put me in some tense situations while in traffic. Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas on why it happens? Dave

Not alot to go on, but what is your idle speed ? Might try just turning it up a bit. Clutch in - in gear or when in "N" also ? Spark Plug fairly fresh ? Air Filter clogged ? ( Running rich maybe ) Just a couple ideas. Dooden A15 Green Ape

I have had similar problems until I discovered I put Tammy's side stand by pass switch in the wrong place ....... and my leg switches the switch in the off position .... which kills the engine. Not fun in traffic. Being the shade tree mech I am, a good strip of duct tape keeps it where it should be (hey it works). Someday I will put it in a better place. Criswell

In my limited experience, oil leaks almost randomly from almost random places. There does not need to be any rationale, rhyme or reason for this; it just happens every now and then, as if the bike is trying to remind me who's boss. 40,000 miles ago the tiny o-ring on the drain screw to my right fork started leaking copiously, ruining a set of brake pads and scaring me to death. It looked fine, but the leak stopped when I replaced it. Safe journeys! Mark
