Well Mike, I will do my best to fill you in. Mefo tires are dual-sport tires made in Germany. Some folks here prefer Kendas because they are cheaper to purchase, I am one of those riders who like the Mefo tires even though they are more expensive. I switched to the Mefos from the stock Dunlops and was amazed at the difference in handling. To me, they were worth every penny. I am on my second set with 12,000 miles on the clock. I just put on the new set, and the stockers were worn out at 3,000 miles. The front Dunlop would have gone longer, but I had a small puncture in it, and wantd the front tire to match the back. As far as Fred goes, I consider him a very good friend even though we have never met other than talking on the phone. I think what he was doing in reality is steering you to his site where he has a pretty good description of all kinds of tires for the KLR, as well as some pictures so you can see what you are getting and how tires compare to each other in regards to tire tread. Fred has been very helpful to me over the past few years, has never charged me for his advice, and to date has not laughed at my sometimes stupid questions. He is the fastest at shipping parts; much faster than any other vendor I have used. Sometimes he is not the cheapest vendor, but he keeps getting my business because of his excellent customer service. I suggest you give him a try and find out for yourself. Ross Lindberg Fertile, MN

Hey Rick, Just between us friends, If you are still drowning, Get in the boat! or the helo. revmaaatin. I like helo's. (seriously--who really hopes you are not losing your home or family to floods.)
